Since 1982, Neal has represented clients in matters related to intellectual property. Neal is experienced in prosecuting domestic and foreign trademark applications and in dispute resolution, including mediation and litigation involving trademarks, copyrights, patents, false advertising, trade secrets and unfair competition and including inter partes matters before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. He is also knowledgeable about negotiating and preparing licensing and other agreements relating to intellectual property.
Among the court cases in which Neal’s clients have achieved successful results are Centricut, LLC v. Esab Group, Inc., 390 F.3d 1361 (Fed. Cir. 2004) (patent infringement) and, as lead counsel, Excell Consumer Prods Ltd. v. Smart Candle LLC, 2013 WL 4828581 (S.D.N.Y. Sept. 10, 2013) and 11 C 7220 (S.D.N.Y. May. 5, 2014) (trademark infringement).
Before joining Finch & Maloney, Neal managed the trademark practice at Davis & Bujold, P.L.L.C. for 21 years.
Neal received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Vassar College and his law degree from Suffolk University Law School. Neal's experience includes representation of international, national, and regional companies as well as individuals.
